A student has been arrested in Halifax, Canada, suspected of stabbing two staff members at a high school, according to police.

Monday’s incident hospitalized two victims as well as the alleged perpetrator. The degree of their injuries is unknown. Regional police in Halifax have established that the suspect is a student at the institution.

At approximately 9:20 a.m., police responded to a weapon complaint and approximately 10 minutes later, a suspect was brought into custody.

The school, which had around 1,700 students in 10th through 12th grades, was momentarily placed in lockdown and then shuttered for the remainder of the day, with pupils being released.

At the time of the incident, the student was in an administrative office, according to a representative from the Halifax regional center for education.

The student then exited the premises, but “but police were on scene almost immediately” she claimed.
