Mott MacDonald Names New MD For North East Asia

February 17, 2016 – Chartered quantity survey Gary Bacon has been appointed as managing director of Mott MacDonald’s north east Asia business.

He will oversee the consultancy’s operations in the region, which covers China, Mongolia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.

Bacon has over 26 years’ experience in the construction industry and joined Mott MacDonald in 2007. He was most recently manager of the company’s advisory and management services business in Europe, which covers 12 countries and operates across the property and infrastructure, finance and investment, environmental, transportation and engineering design sectors.

Prior to this he was manager of the Russian and northern European operations, as well as acting as the company’s country representative for Russia.

Bacon said: “It is time to take Mott MacDonald to the next level in north east Asia. While we already have a very strong presence in the region we can further strengthen this by creating synergies across our business and the sectors we operate in. We understand our clients’ needs and can demonstrate the value we can add by constantly rethinking the way we work to offer creative and innovative solutions that are tailored to our customers’ needs.”

High-profile Mott MacDonald projects across north east Asia include the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, Shanghai Foxconn Plaza and Hong Kong’s first sludge incinerator, which will be the world’s largest once complete. The consultancy has also worked continuously at Hong Kong International Airport for over 20 years.
