Bangkok Bomb Suspect Shows Police Where He Handed Device Over

September 9, 2015 – A man suspected of handling the bomb that killed 20 people at a popular shrine in Bangkok has shown police where he is alleged to have handed the device over.

Officials say Yusufu Mierili has confessed to being part of the network and to being in the area of the bombing.

He is one of two people arrested so far. The search continues for a further four.

“This place is where he met the man in the yellow shirt and handed over the backpack that he was carrying. Yusufu said it was heavy and it was a bomb”, Royal Thai Police Spokesman General Prawut Thavornsiri told reporters.

Police think a yellow-shirted man, who is still at large, is the main suspect who planted the bomb.

He was caught on CCTV placing a backpack at the Erawan Shrine, moments before the blast that killed 20 people and injured 130.

Officials have found no clear motive for the attack, in which 14 foreign tourists died.
