SoftBank Commits Another US$3bn To WeWork

November 14, 2018 – WeWork Cos. said last night that Japan’s SoftBank Group Corp. has committed an additional $3 billion to the U.S. shared office space provider.

The New York-based WeWork, which leases office spaces and rents them out to individuals and startups, has built up over 300,000 members. In Japan, it has seven offices in Tokyo and plans to expand its business into Yokohama, Osaka and Fukuoka.

According to the Financial Times, SoftBank and its Vision Fund poured $4.4 billion into WeWork last year. SoftBank also invested $1 billion in the firm in the form of a convertible note earlier this year.
