Singapore And Thailand Sign ICT Agreement

May 31, 2016 – The Republic signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Thailand today for the two countries to cooperate in the area of information and communications technology (ICT).

In a press release today, the Singapore Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) said the agreement covers areas such as developing electronic government services; boosting digital technology start-up ecosystems; sharing both countries’ experiences in cyber security; and training and capacity development programmes.

It promotes the exchange of views, experiences and knowledge in the field of ICT, and strengthens the strong relations between Singapore and Thailand and their respective ICT sectors, the ministry said, adding that the MoU also “affirms the commitment of Singapore and Thailand to the integration of ASEAN through cooperation in the field of ICT”.

The MoU was signed by Singapore Minister for Communications and Information Dr Yaacob Ibrahim and his Thai counterpart Dr Uttama Savanayana against the backdrop of the Infocomm Media Business Exchange Ministerial Forum on ICT 2016 at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands.
