Singapore And India To Form Strategic Partnership This Year

February 10, 2015 – President Tony Tan Keng Yam yesterday announced that Singapore and India will take relations to the next level, with the establishment of a strategic partnership this year.

Dr Tan is in New Delhi for a 4-day state visit to mark 50 years of diplomatic ties with India. In a speech delivered at a state banquet this evening, Dr Tan said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi will sign the milestone agreement later this year.

A strategic partnership will broaden the scope of cooperation between both countries to include areas such as urban planning, infrastructure development, education and connectivity.
